Session E

“I met Thomas in 2017 through mutual friends. It’s apparent to me seven years later that it was a fated acquaintance. Our first shoot was a casual, in-home boudoir session. Before our session, Thomas ensured that we met to discuss what I wanted out of this session. Without being intrusive or dismissive, he sought to understand who I was and where I was in this phase of my life. Our first session was conservative and explorative at the same time. His personality while shooting was entertaining and undemanding. Each pose felt natural, coaxed to simple perfection. Thomas’s attention to detail is second to none. I saw myself in a new light after seeing the photographs captured during that first session. Finally, someone could see the version of myself that lurked just below the surface imploring to be unmasked.”

“He’s a textbook Pisces, naturally empathetic and intuitive. Following our first session, he suggested that we shoot again, but this time in a more inspired, uninhibited (meaning not within the boundaries of boudoir) session. In that next shoot, Thomas gently pushed aside the mask I keep firmly affixed to myself, hiding the depth and darkness of my soul. I felt seen. I felt liberated. I’ve never looked back. Thomas & I continue to shoot once or twice a year, working around both of my pregnancies and my life as a working mother. Thomas has been there for it all, even acquiescing to my crazy requests and shooting both of my pregnancy announcements.”

“One of the most unassuming, yet formidable, things about him is his ability to see past the masks you wear. After becoming a mother of 3, I struggled with a myriad of issues, mostly born of my high-functioning anxiety, perfectionist tendencies, and lack of self. Our photoshoots became one of the few places where I felt the stresses of my life and my insecurities fade away, almost like standing in the eye of a storm. The last two years have brought me some of my favorite shoots, complete with images that evoke fulfillment for myself. Thomas continues to encourage me to lean into what makes me feel like myself, letting me take one step at a time into a place of self-discovery and authenticity.”

“He knows the exact limitations of his models’ abilities, namely who is better suited for specific types of shoots. He acknowledges those willing to lean into more creative experiences and those who are more comfortable simply receiving instruction during a shoot. After 7 years of shooting together, I know if I get a random text from Thomas with just my name, something good is coming. I’m thankful to call Thomas a friend and to have a friend as creative and inspiring as him. I love that I get a chance to bring my own ideas to the table and that we have created a safe space to explore darkness, light, color, curves, simplicity, and depth - sometimes all at the same time.”
